Local Showcase presents a discerning collection of handicrafts, art and objects from the Hands of Alaska. Everything in the store is hand-made or found in Alaska, by Alaskans.
A unique selection of hand-made arts and crafts features beautifully utilitarian knives and ulus; a broad array of masks varied in size, material, style, and price; and quality jewelry in a diverse range of mediums/materials.
Art pieces include large original acrylics, hand-pulled linoleum block prints, original antique maps of Alaska and the Arctic and clay, leather, glass and metal creations.
One of the rare stores selling whale bones, Local Showcase also carries a fascinating array of fossilized and extinct sea mammal bones, land mammal skulls, claws, antlers and other renewable materials. This fascinating assortment is well-complemented by a selection of Eskimo artifacts (legally and ethically collected from St. Lawrence Island) and a rotating stock of vintage Alaskana.
